Beardsley was mustered in at the rank of sergeant and out as Lieutenant. The address is given in full as "Co. E., 154 Regt. N.Y.S.V. 1st Brigade, 2nd Division, 11th Army Corps, Army of Cumberland Nashville, Tennessee. This Ellicottville, NY area regiment took heavy losses in early fighting in Gettysburg and was later part of Sherman's March to the Sea.
