211pp. + 34pp. + 8pp. + 24pp. Original brown cloth elaborately stamped in blind with star patterns on each board and the spine lettering stamped in gilt. Corners rubbed through at the tips. Spine ends worn through at the extremities. A couple of other small nicks to the cloth, but still quite bright and clean. Very faint dampstain to the top and fore edges of the last few pages of the text block, not even coming close to the printed text. No previous ownership inscriptions. A nice example. In the 1840's Condit had been a member of the NY Colonization Society, one of those Christian organizations that thought that the best way to deal with the slavery issue was by shipping them back to Africa (e.g. Liberia). He was pastor of Stillwater Presbyterian Church (NJ) from 1837 to 1881 when he died. OCLC Worldcat locates only one copy in university holdings, that being the copy held by Condit's alma mater, Princeton. That copy does not appear to contain the last title in the series, "A Feast for the Immortal Mind". Size: 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall
