439pp. 2nd Edition (stated). Original green cloth with rule stamped in blind and lettering stamped in gilt. Illustrated with diagrams and cuts in text. Ownership ink stamp of I.U. Doust, a contemporary photographer in Syracuse, NY. Doust opened up shop in Syracuse in 1875 (leaning heavily on this very book, as it were) and continued in business for 53 years! He was an important photographer of the cottages in the Thousand Islands, having photographed every cottage there in the 1920's. In an article celebrating his birthday, a Syracuse newspaper reported that his first camera was one of his own design. Extensive notations of Doust on the prelims and end matter and some in the margins in violet pencil. Corners bumped. All edges rubbed through. Joints split, hinges cracked (boards barely holding on). Backstrip torn in places but repaired with archival quality binding glue. Some dampstain to the text, effecting the last half of the text.
