Contains all twelve issues of this periodical for 1904. Bound in contemporary red alligator skin, reinforced with red crush morocco at the corners and the spine. Patterned endpapers. This appears to be the publishing organ for the Girls Friendly Society (est. 1875), an organization that still exists today in London to assist young women in poor communities with education and improvement. At this time, it was predominantly a Christian organization judging from the content of some of these articles: "Bible Study", "Favourite Hymns and their Authors", "Mission Work in Foreign Lands", "Soldiers of Christ", "Words in the Prayer Book", etc. It was also organized by the Anglican Church. The editor was the grand daughter of Samuel Coleridge and a contemporary of Charlotte Yonge. Scarce. We cannot locate any copies of any edition of this title (for any year) listed for sale online. Corners bumped and rubbed through. Spine ends frayed. Bottom end of the spine torn at the front jpint and across the face of the backstrip. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall
