125pp. Original flimsy brown cloth with lettering stamped in gilt to the front cover. Blind stamped rule around the inside edges of the covers. Cloth chipped at the extremities. The heel of the spine is chipped, as is the head and the joints near the head. Gift inscription in pencil on the front free endpaper. Backstrip split. This title, along with a few other book of the Bible, were printed individually as an experiment by the American Bible Society to see how Scripture portions would sell during the Civil War. The Union Army and Navy were especially good customers and by the end of the War, more than 5 million copies of Scripture portions (mostly New Testament) had sold.

2pp. ads + pagination "A-P" + 2pp. ads. Stapled wraps. Ca. 1890's. Scarce. Loaded with local ads. A search of the OCLC Worldcat reveals that there are no copies in university holdings. One staple heavily rusted with damage to the paper surrounding it. Wraps unevenly browned. A few stray pencil check marks. The Woman's Relief Corps was an auxiliary to the Grand Army of the Republic. Funds from the sale of the WRC cookbooks went to aid the living veterans of the Union Army from the Civil War.

The appendices mostly have to do with the work of various regiments in the Civil War. The largest appendice is about New York's Colonial Archives, a transcription of the records between 1673 and 1675. Lacking the map of the Hudson River from NYC to Canada.
