The recto of the card gives us Dr. Gerrie's credentials, among which are the fact that he, "...believes that narrowness and bigotry keep a physician in ignorance of the many facts and discoveries which he ought to know, to be abreast of the times. The Doctor is prepared to make chemical and microscopical examinations of urine and sputa by which means either Diabetes, Bright's Disease [chronic nephritis, an inflammation of the kidneys), or Tuberculosis can be easily detected in its incipient stage." A list of his FDA approved medicines on the back, all priced fifty cents. Very faint foxing.
